What changed, and when

Deiko is in public beta and ships often. This page lists what a person using it would notice. The app checks for updates itself; to update by hand, run the install line again.

0.4.8

• Drawing no longer needs the mouse button. Hold Left Option and move the cursor: a loop is a lasso, a straight sweep is an arrow, back-and-forth is a scribble. Let go to capture. It starts after the cursor has travelled a little, so Option+Backspace and Option-typed characters leave no mark.
• Deiko no longer intercepts any click. Clicks reach your app during a session, including Option+click, and Option+drag does what it does in that app, such as selecting text, without Deiko drawing over it. So you can click through a bug and mark things along the way.
• The faint trail that followed the cursor is gone. Colour on screen now means a stroke you are drawing.
• Scribbles are drawn at highlighter weight on the screenshot, so the text under them stays readable.
• Fixed "Delete session" appearing to freeze the app. Its confirmation was opening behind the orb.

• Fixed a crash at the start of a session after the audio hardware changed under a long-running app — AirPods connecting, a call app switching the sample rate. Each recording now asks the hardware again.
• Fixed the coin appearing on a Space nobody was looking at after the first drop of a launch, which read as "transcription finished and nothing happened".

• Three fixes from the first installs: a build that had lost its cloud transcription address, the coin sitting too low on the screen, and a capture that did not wait for the accessibility tree.

• Narration now goes through Whisper's translation endpoint: speak in any language, or two in one sentence, and the brief comes back in English.
• One Groq key of your own covers both the words and the summary, and with it Deiko's servers see nothing.
• The free 30 minutes belong to the Mac, not to something you type.
• Install is one line in a terminal.

• The first published release, and the first under the name Deiko.
• Pro is a licence key sent by email. No account. The key can be copied to your next Mac.
• The installer says plainly that Deiko needs an Apple Silicon Mac, instead of failing later on an Intel one.
