What Deiko is
A macOS application that captures what you point at and what you say, and assembles it into a brief you can hand to a coding agent. It requires macOS 14 or later.
Your licence
- Use Deiko for personal and commercial work, including work you are paid for.
- The code is open source under the MIT licence: read it, change it, build and share your own version. Bundled third-party parts keep their own licences.
- A Pro licence key is for one person. Move it between your own Macs freely — it is tied to you, not to a machine — but do not share or publish it.
- Do not work around the limits of Deiko's hosted service, for example by faking installs to get more free hours.
What each plan includes
- Free — the whole app, plus two hours of Deiko's cloud transcription each calendar month (UTC). Past that, transcription runs on-device, unlimited, until the next month. Or bring your own Groq key at any time and use none of ours.
- Pro — 10 hours of cloud transcription a month, with no API key of your own to manage.
The monthly allowance does not roll over. Running out is not an error — sessions keep working on Apple's on-device recogniser, so nothing stops because an allowance did.
Payment and refunds
Pro is sold by Polar as merchant of record: Polar buys the licence from us and sells it to you, so the purchase itself is governed by Polar's buyer terms, and Polar handles billing, invoicing and tax. Subscriptions renew until cancelled; cancel any time and access runs to the end of the period you paid for.
If Deiko is not what you expected, email support@deiko.app within 14 days of purchase and we will refund you in full, no argument.
Your content is yours
Your screenshots, narration, briefs and anything you make with Deiko belong to you. We claim no rights over them and do not use them to train anything. What happens to your data is in the Privacy policy.
The build is self-signed
Deiko is signed with a self-signed certificate rather than an Apple Developer ID, so macOS marks the download as unverified and you clear the quarantine attribute yourself to run it. Installing software Apple has not notarised is your decision, and in making it you are relying on your trust in whoever handed you the build.
Acceptable use
Do not use Deiko to capture material you have no right to capture, to record people without whatever consent the law where you are requires, or to break any law. You are responsible for what is on your screen while a session runs.
The matching model
Deiko matches your briefs by meaning with Google’s EmbeddingGemma, which it downloads once and runs only on your Mac. Gemma comes under Google’s Gemma Terms of Use, with a copy in the app (Settings → Licences), and using Deiko means you agree not to use Gemma for anything its prohibited use policy rules out.
Warranty and liability
Deiko is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. The cloud transcription service may be interrupted or discontinued; because the app falls back to on-device transcription, an outage costs you accuracy rather than your work, and we offer no uptime guarantee.
To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim relating to Deiko is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before it. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss — including lost data, lost profits, or the output of any coding agent you hand a brief to.
Ending it
Stop using Deiko and delete it whenever you like. We may suspend a licence being shared or used against these terms, and will refund the unused portion if we do.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute.
