1The basics
What is Deiko, in one breath?
A Mac menu-bar app for talking to your coding agent about things you can see. Double-tap ⌥ Right Option, point at whatever's wrong while you say what should change, and tap it again to stop. Deiko turns that into a brief: your words cleaned up, plus a screenshot of everything you pointed at, each with the sentence you said over it.
Then you drag a little coin onto any agent's window, and the brief is pasted in.

For one bug, one screenshot and one sentence: honestly, do that. It's free and takes four seconds.
Deiko is for everything past that. Six things wrong on one page, in the order you noticed them. A native app your agent can't open. Two windows on two monitors. A sentence that comes out half in Hindi. And the same bug coming back on Friday, when your agent has forgotten Tuesday.
Which agents does it work with?
Anything with a text box. Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Windsurf, ChatGPT, Claude.ai, and whatever ships next week.
Nothing gets installed on the agent's side. Agents running on your Mac get file paths to the screenshots; browser chats get the images attached.
Why is it called Deiko?
From the Greek for "to point out". Say it DAY-ko. The logo is a ring with a dot in the middle: "I'm pointing at that."
2Your Mac, your call
Does it work on Windows, Linux or an Intel Mac?
Not yet, sorry. Deiko needs macOS 14 or newer on a Mac with Apple silicon. The pointing leans on things only the Mac gives an app, like reading the name of the button under your cursor.
The playground on the home page runs in any desktop browser, though, with Alt keys or plain buttons. Go poke it.
Is it always listening?
No. Nothing is recorded until you double-tap ⌥ Right Option.
For as long as it's recording, a red bar sits at the top of every screen saying so. It doesn't fade, doesn't auto-hide, and can't be hidden while the mic is on. If you can't see the red bar, Deiko can't hear you.
What actually leaves my Mac?
Two things: your narration audio, to be turned into text, and a short filing note so each brief lands in the right task. Deiko keeps neither.
Screenshots, the text on your screen and the names of what you pointed at never leave, except inside a brief you throw at an agent yourself. And the recording is deleted the moment the brief exists. The privacy page has every detail.
What if there's a password on my screen?
A screenshot that shows a password or an API key is held back and deleted. It never makes it into the brief.
Do I need an account?
Nope. No email, no password, no profile. A licence key isn't an account, and there's nothing of yours to breach.

Can I talk in two languages in one sentence?
Yes. "Yeh cart total update nahi ho raha, see, yahan": say it the way it comes out, and the brief comes back in English. There's no language setting to go looking for.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Capture, screenshots, text recognition and the brief all happen on your Mac. With no network, Apple's on-device recogniser does the transcribing, and nothing is sent anywhere.
What's the memory thing everyone keeps mentioning?
Every brief is filed with the piece of work it continues. So when the price bug comes back on Friday, the new brief tells your agent what Tuesday already tried and what was decided, and coding agents write back what they did under the brief.
When Deiko can't tell which task something belongs to, it asks "Which one?" with buttons. Mic checks and a lone "thank you" go to Odds and ends. It all stays on your Mac. The memory page shows how it works.
Can I change how the brief is written?
Yes. Pick a persona per brief: QA ticket, Code change or Analysis. Each one is a Markdown file you can rewrite, so the brief comes out the way your team likes it. Even your own.
4Money and mess
What does it cost?
Right now: nothing. Everything, Pro included, is free until 24 October 2026.
From then, Pro is $7.99 a month, $79 a year, or $159 once for lifetime. Pro adds ten hours a month of Deiko's transcription.
And if you'd rather not pay, don't. Deiko stays free to use: after 30 minutes of Deiko's transcription, it transcribes on your Mac instead, with no limit, and a few Pro extras stay Pro. Bring your own Groq key and there's no cap at all.
lifetime means lifetime. no sneaky asterisk.How do I update it?
Deiko checks for updates itself. To update by hand, run the install line again. The changelog says what changed.
How do I uninstall it, properly?
Quit Deiko from its menu, drag it from Applications to the Trash, then sweep up what macOS keeps outside the app:
