Two languages

Say it in two languages. Get one English brief.

Deiko has no language setting. Start a sentence in Hindi, finish it in English, point at the thing you mean, and what reaches your coding agent is one clean English sentence next to the screenshot.

The problem with being asked first

Dictation tools begin by asking which language you are about to speak. If you think in two, you do not know, and the switch will land in the middle of a noun:

"Yeh button dabao toh state reset ho jaata hai, but sirf tab jab modal already open ho."

Set the tool to Hindi and button, state and modal come out as approximate Devanagari. Set it to English and the Hindi becomes confident nonsense. Either way you lose half the sentence, so you give up and type.

This is Hinglish, but the same thing happens in Spanglish, Taglish, Singlish, or any pair where the technical words stay English and the grammar does not.

What Deiko does instead

Double-tap Right Option, point, and talk however the sentence comes out. The sentence above comes back as something close to:

"If you press this button the state resets, but only when the modal is already open."

That sentence goes into the brief beside a tight crop of the button you were pointing at, its accessibility label and the window title, in the order you said things. You drop it on Claude Code, Cursor, ChatGPT or Codex.

How it works

The narration audio goes to whisper-large-v3's translation endpoint rather than its transcription endpoint. The model was trained on many languages at once, detects what it is hearing, and is asked for English. There is no language picker because there is no question left to answer. The longer version is here.

The trade-offs, stated

  • You get English out, always. If you need the Hindi kept verbatim — a quote, a message to a person, a transcript — this is the wrong tool. You want a straight transcription instead.
  • It is the cloud route that does this. That is the 30 free minutes on install, Pro, or your own Groq key. The on-device fallback is Apple's recogniser, which is good and private and handles one language at a time.
  • Audio is the only thing that travels, and it is deleted as soon as it becomes text. Screenshots, window titles and the brief never leave the Mac. With your own Groq key the audio goes straight to Groq and Deiko's servers are not in the path. Details.
  • It is not a dictation app. It will not type into Slack or your editor. For that, see Deiko vs Superwhisper and Deiko vs Wispr Flow.

Try it on your own sentence

The free tier is the whole app with 30 minutes of cloud transcription, no account and no card. macOS 14 or later, Apple Silicon.
